Neutrality? Google's Dirty Little Secret by Steve Maloney

Neautrality? Google's Dirty Little Secret By Steve Maloney
Search neutrality is relatively simple.  It means search engines like Google should "play fair.  It shouldn't do what it obviously does: provide favorable (top of page 1) links to its sponsors;  discriminate (as it does) against other, smaller search engines; and favor one political figure (say, Barack Obama) over another political figure (say, your favorite conservative), which it also does.

If you want to find favorable links to stories about Michelle Obama, no problem.  But if you want to find on page 1 favorable treatments of Sarah Palin, you'll often be out of luck.

This isn't necessarily a case of malice from the top.  Rather, it's probably the same thing we see in the MSM, people who work for a company trying to get ahead by mimicking the prejudices of their bosses.  "Go alone to get along" -- or, "Google along to get ahead."   Trust me, the same "spirit" prevails at the NY Times and MSNBC.

Also, if you'd like, reference the excellent, short piece about search neutrality that recently appeared in RedState.com.  [Link below]
“Don’t Be Evil*” | RedState      - By SteveMaloneyGOP

Excerpt from Red State on how Google obliterated a competitor:

After a 30-year career in the law, Dominique Barella left his job as president of the main union for French judges in 2006 and started a Web site, Ejustice.fr, that lets users search for legal resources in France.…[W]ithin a few months, it was attracting up to 20,000 visitors a day and selling a modest amount of advertising. That, Mr. Barella says, is when the trouble with Google began.

Overnight, traffic plunged - because, Mr. Barella says, the company stopped indexing pages from Ejustice.fr for inclusion in Google's search engine.

If Google can effectively shut down a small business, which, arguably, isn't even in competition with Google, what restraint DOES the company have?

Thanks for your help!
