North Myrtle Beach, SC -- A major national organization, Warriors for Congress, http://www.warriorsforcongress.com/ that’s supporting a select group of only eight combat veterans nationwide running for Congress, has announced that they are endorsing North Myrtle Beach’s Katherine Jenerette in her bid to become the U.S. Congressman for the 1st Congressional District seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Jenerette is a veteran of the Persian Gulf War Operation Desert Storm and is still serving as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Reserve and an Army Paratrooper assigned to Ft. Bragg.

Jenerette was named last week by Melanie Morgan, a nationally known radio host, TV personality, and fundraiser for pro-military causes, who is the Chairman of Warriors of Congress.  Previously, Morgan co-founded Move America Forward, the nation’s largest grassroots, pro-troops nonprofit.

Morgan said, “Katherine Jenerette is a role model for American women and all members and veterans of the military.  She’s the first female paratrooper ever to run for Congress, and she’s truly exemplary in her commitment to conservative values, the Constitution, and to our country.”
Katherine Jenerette said:  “I’m more than humbled to receive the endorsement of living patriots and legends like Melanie Morgan and Catherine Moy and a superb organization like Warriors for Congress.  Their national support will help me get my message across to the voters of South Carolina’s 1st District which in turn will help us to bring a constitutional voice with aggressive dedicated fighters into Washington, D.C.  I’m more convinced than ever that I can win this important congressional race.”

“My principles are simple, as a congressman,” Jenerette continued. “I won't just be representing the right, left or either extreme or the people in the middle – I represent all the people as clearly stated in the Constitution of the United States of America.”

“I view myself as a strict Constitutionalist. But, I will never forget that I serve the people of my district and that includes the richest businessmen in the district and it includes single-moms with kids who are trying to get them through school to educate them and the ordinary people like me who go to work and pay their taxes and wished their government wasn't so darn big.”

“I've always thought that the bigger the government, the smaller the individual – and that one small voice is important because when we lose that, we lose what the American dream is all about.” Katherine has served as a U.S. Congressional Field Representative for the First District and as a North Myrtle Beach Planning Commissioner and is an advocate of numerous Coastal Caronia Initiatives and economic Development plans.
Warriors for Congress’ Mission Statement outlines the principles Jenerette pledged to adhere to:  “Warriors for Congress will vet candidates, interview them, and ensure that they want to stop deficit spending; refuse to increase the weight of the government on our citizens; stand ready to protect American citizens and America’s security anywhere in the world; fight tax increases; refuse to vote for or enact any law that does not also apply to Congressional members; and understand explicitly that, if elected, they work for the citizens, not the other way around.”
Through its political action committee, Warriors for Congress will provide financial assistance to Jenerette’s campaign.  Its web site, http://www.warriorsforcongress.com/ will publicize Jenerette’s candidacy and encourage Americans to volunteer in her support.
Katherine has a degree from Coastal Carolina University and holds a Master’s Degree from the University of South Carolina, Columbia. As a track and field and cross country athlete at CCU, Katherine received NCAA Big South Conference honors. "

Shamrock Invitational Track and Field Meet...

Shamrock Invitational Track and Field Meet

This weekend Benjamin Jenerette, one of Katherine's daughters will be participating in Shamrock Invitational Track and Field meet.  She will be competing in two events, the 1500m and 800m.  Coastal Carolina University will be hosting the invitational.  I would like to wish Benjamin the best of luck in both of the events she will be participating in.  I would also like to mention that Benjamin is only 13 years old, competing against collegiate level athletes.  In November 2009, Benjamin was named to South Carolina's All State Team and was also recognized as one of the National Elites National Silver Standard Runners after competing in the 2009 State Cross Country Championship meet at Sand Hills Research Center, Columbia.  It seems that young Benjamin is running her way into her mother's footsteps with a stellar track record, Katherine was honored as NCAA "Big South" conference runner in 1994 while attending Coastal Carolina University.

"She is ranked 1st in five Outdoor Track events in South Carolina for her class and is 12th in the Nation USATF Youth. Benjamin is listed in the MileSplit 2009 United States Outdoor Track & Field 1500m Rankings as third for her class in the Nation." -Jenerette.com

Grace Stevens AKA "Amazing Grace"

Grace Stevens was one of many fantastic patriotic women who went to work in manufacturing positions during World War II.  While husbands, brothers, sons, uncles, and nephews were out fighting, Grace Stevens left her role as a traditional housewife to help support her family during the war.  In 1943, Ms. Stevens cleaned and packed parachutes for two years at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma. Katherine sees Ms. Stevens as a role model and an American hero.

Katherine on Grace Stevens....
"After the war was over, they asked her to stay on, but she was ready to go back home to Pennsylvania. She is an inspiration to today's women serving in the military. She's an American hero.  For Ms. Grace looking back she acts like it was nothing to have been a part in the shaping of our military heritage.  I can't imagine the conditions and the pressure that she was under given the time period.  She is just as tough as any paratrooper out there; and if she could have been on jump status, she would have excelled.  I am inspired by her attitude that you only get so much time on planet Earth, you might as well make the most of it.  And at 100 years old, she still has that attitude."

More to come on Katherine from Steve Maloney..

Please stay tuned, my friend Steve Maloney will be writing about Katherine Jenerette.  You can visit his blog here
"Tomorrow (Wednesday, March 10) I'll be writing about Katherine Jenerette, candidate for the House of Representatives from South Carolina's 1st district (from Charleston along the coast to the NC border). A Lieutenant in the US Army Reserve, Katherine has made 15 parachute jumps and is a veteran of the Persian Gulf War. She deserves national support; she may be the nation's best Republican candidate for Congress. She also may be the toughest." - Steve Maloney

Not Your Typical "Good Ole' Boy" For Congress..

South Carolina GOP Primary choice for limited government Conservatives
by Stephen Maloney, Pennsylvania

"Scott Brown won his monumental victory on Tuesday because of American patriots dedicated to protecting our Constitution and preserving our way of life.

I’ll forever be grateful that so many people trusted me six weeks ago, when I suggested long before he was on anybody’s radar screen, that electing then-little-known Lt. Col. Scott Brown was vital to America’s future. (See one of my original post here at Libertarian Republican on Scott Brown’s campaign.)
Now, I’m asking you to trust me again in supporting and promoting the candidacy of Katherine Jenerette, a commissioned Army officer from the legendary 82nd Airborne Division.

I deeply believe that my friend, Katherine, has the same character, devotion to country, and commitment to conservative limited government values that Americans have found in Scott Brown.
Katherine’s running for Congress in South Carolina’s 1st Congressional District, one that stretches along the coast from Charleston all the way up to the North Carolina border. She is running, just as Scott Brown did, against the concept of family dynasties “owning” a seat and the reality of “good ole boy” politics.
She is an underdog; but I assure you, we will this contest. As Katherine says, “I don’t fight like a girl; I fight like a PARATROOPER.”

Please take a quick look Katherine’s campaign website, and you will discover an American woman with the same character and unlimited potential we find in Sarah Palin,Michele Bachmann, and Liz Cheney"
From Katherine:

"Obviously, I’m not your garden-variety politician, and that not just because I jump out of airplanes . . . and drive a pickup. I’ve been called “the good ole boys worst nightmare” because I don’t believe in political chicanery, back-room deals, special-interest deals, or dynasties. If you send me to Washington, DC, I won’t be one that goes along . . . to get along. In my military career, I’ve sworn to protect my fellow Americans and our Constitution. That oath is a lifetime commitment.
Like most people in this state, I’m a conservative and, constitutionally, a strict constructionist. I believe in “the 3 Fs,” faith in God, family, and fidelity to our country.
I’m pro-life, pro-Second Amendment, pro-private enterprise, and pro-military. In my Army career, I’ve been willing to give my life, if necessary, for our beloved nation, and now I’m willing to devote my life to serving God, my brother and sister South Carolinians, and my fellow Americans."
Again, I’m asking you to adopt — and embrace the candidacy of –this remarkable woman — Katherine — committed to winning a tough election and primary. With your strong support, victory will be a certainty. Please support this mother (of four), soldier, patriot, and leader. - Steve Maloney

Rising Star Profile

Gilia R from HDR features Katherine Jenerette on her blog as a Rising Star...
"I’ve decided to start highlighting some of the amazing, dedicated and talented individuals who are running in key political races this year.  After the incredible victory by Scott Brown in Massachusetts, it’s obvious that we can have an impact on any election in this country.  And, there is good reason to hope for the future with such qualified candidates.  We just need to know who the people are that we should support.  The first person I’d like to feature is Katherine Jenerette of South Carolina, an Army veteran who is running for Congress.  Check out her profile here:  Katherine Jenerette Be sure to let all your friends and relatives in South Carolina know about Katherine and tell them to support her"

Chi Ching! Sounds like a Biblical plague of Federal locusts swarming

Article written by Katherine Jenerette
Last year Obama was going to move the nation forward with what he billed as his top priority: the economic stimulus package called the "American Recovery and Reinvestment Plan."

And now it appears that the only thing that was 'stimulated' was a Federal Power Grab and more strings attached to the free marketplace.

So if this Obama creation, with another fancy name - the "National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform" - works as well as his prior 'sounds-good-but-means-trouble' Federal nothingness, we are all in for an unprecedented rate of federal government growth for the next 7 or eight generations.

Chi Ching! Sounds like a Biblical plague of Federal locusts…swarming.

I don't pretend to be some conservative miracle worker for South Carolina's First Congressional District. I just know Obamamania-slash-Pelosimaniacs need to be stopped.

Washington D.C. is a pretty tough place but, you can count on the fact that my 'one vote' in the Congress will be for the District that I represent. I know that every vote I would make to spend money as a Congressman 'screws' someone and 'helps' someone . . . and costs every hardworking person and their family.

President Truman had the 'buck stops here' thing backwards: Every 'buck starts with a tax-paying person' not with the Federal Government in D.C.

The only strings attached to me are going to be from the voters - I'm used to fighting to get things done and to get things done right.

I don't pull any punches, and I can take a punch and will get up before the count is over.

Get me in an elevator as the SC-01 Representative at the capitol with Nancy Girl Pelosi, and I will do more than whistle Dixie to her…

Steve Maloney on Jenerette and Katie Hastings O'Malley

Steve Maloney on Jenerette and O'Malley
"Can we defeat Obama's, Pelosi's, and Reid's radical agenda -- their mindless effort to shove our country toward national socialism and military weakness?

"Yes, we can" by getting behind charismatic, conservative leaders like Katherine Jenerette of SC and Katie Hastings O'Malley of NYC. Katherine Jenerette, mother of four, is a Republican congressional candidate from SC's 1st district; Katie Hastings O'Malley, also a mom of many, is a fine conservative writer for Human Events (and other publications) -- as well as a fundraiser for nonprofit organizations. Both women are my friends . . . and my inspirations. They're dedicated to taking our country back.

Katherine Jenerette for U.S Congress (contributions)http://www.jenerette.com/2010_bio/index.html (biography)

Katherine is running against the usual "family dynasty" candidates, one the son of Storm Thurmond and one (a guy named "Tumpy") who's the son of a former Governor. If either of these men win, one thing's guaranteed: he will go to DC and do a great imitation of Rip van Winkle. Katherine can win -- and will deliver a major wake-up call to Congress.

Katherine's a commissioned Army Officer, a paratrooper, and a college history teacher. Katie is not only a first-class writer (see below), but also a tireless advocate for military causes. How conservative are they? Very much so.

Katie (I'm not making this up) has a tattoo of Ronald Reagan on her back. That's conservative indeed.

Katherine essentially wants to go to Washington with a giant "STOP" sign to hold in front of Obama and Pelosi.

Katherine is running against men who are the darlings of special interest groups. She's conducting a powerful grassroots campaign based heavily on support from the Tea Party groups and other activists. Can she win? If American patriots -- that is, people just like us -- give her their support, including financial backing, she will win, and that will mean our America wins. Her motto is "This House [the one in DC] is your House."

I know Katherine well, and she means exactly what she says.

She needs your support. And I deeply believe she deserves it. She's been called "A Southern Sarah Palin" and "a female version of Scott Brown."

Katie Hastings O'Malley, with her Reagan tattoo, might add that Katherine has Reagan-like qualities, including a deep love of her country and the traditional values our former President embodied. "

Please do two things:
contribute to Katherine's campaign . . . and familiarize yourself with Katie O'Malley's writing.- Steve Maloney

If It’s Reagan Principles You Want, Jenerette Is Your Gal

Carolina Politics Online talks about Katherine Jenerette...
"The one candidate that really stands out to me out of the three, however, is Katherine Jenerette. history professor, mother of four, and a second lieutenant in the army reserves, I think Mrs. Jenerette is the total package that disgruntled conservatives and others disoriented with the Republican Party are looking for."
"Marvelous. She hit the fiscal issues, the education issues, and the military issues right on the button. Additionally, she points out how Congressional Republicans have lost their way and threw a platform for success overboard to satisfy their own greed. Ah, it brings tears to my eyes."
"It’s very difficult to take down an incumbent, even more so in a primary, but hope springs eternal. I hope enough Republicans who are looking for a return to the Class of ‘94 ideals are paying attention in this race. They have a candidate"

Sodahead Endorses Jenerette...

The great people over at Sodahead on Katherine Jenerette
"Yesterday’selection demonstrated clearly that the 1st District will be a battleground in the 2010 election,” Jenerette said from Fort Bragg were she is presently training in Middle East Counter-Terrorism and Special Operations. “The Democrats smell the blood in the water and we better show up prepared to go toe-to-toe this time around."  ~Katherine Jenerette, 1st U.S.

On Wednesday, Katherine Jenerette, a former US Congressional Field Representative for the 1st District, a veteran of the Persian Gulf War,and a US Army Reserve Officer announced her bid for the 1st District US Congressional Seat in the 2010 and the beginning of her campaign.
“Yesterday’selection demonstrated clearly that the 1st District will be a battleground in the 2010 election,” Jenerette said from Fort Bragg were she is presently training in Middle East Counter-Terrorism and Special Operations.
“When a four term incumbent Republican in a ‘safe’ Republican district holds the seat with a slim margin of only four percent of the votes - that spells big problems in
the next Congressional election,” Jenerette said.

Jenerette, who worked for Rep. Brown as a US Congressional Field representative for the 1st District said that her entry into the race is no reflection on her great respect towards his service as our Congressman since 2000.
“Confidential sources close to Capitol Hill have informed me that this will be his last term,” Jenerette said, “Which means we’ve got a street fight on our hands to keep this Congressional seat in the Republican camp - the Democrats smell the blood in the water and we better show up prepared to go toe-to-toe this time around.”
Jenerette said the top three issues facing the coastal Carolina region and our nation is “the economy followed by the economy followed by the economy.”
She added that the Wall Street Bail out was a bad move and represents too much government intrusion into our consumer driven market economy.

“The bail-out concept is trickle-down welfare and is worse than a bad idea,it was plain dumb. For free-market economic big-wig players to stickout their tin-cups to the government and the tax payers and expect a‘free lunch hand-out’ because of their own incompetence is borderline socialism,” Jenerette said.
“We won’t have a free market for very long if we keep screwing with it the way Congress has with the bail-out.Trickle-down welfare just adds another level of government intrusion that only results in more federal dependency.”

Jenerette said that her legislative agenda includes the priority issues of; the Economy, National Security, Education, Regional Tourism, District Roads and Infrastructure, Out-of Control-Spending, Illegal Immigration, Health Care among other issues and that she would be releasing position papers in the weeks ahead.
"My time as a field representative for our district allowed me to understand the nuts and bolts of local, state and federal government at work with one another,"she said.
"I understand our business concerns, our tourism industry, our environmental concerns, our veterans' issues and needs, and ourgrowing retiree population's concern for their future.”

Jenerette is a veteran of the district political scene and she finished the June2008 Republican primary with a solid second place finish in a three-manrace against Rep. Brown and Paul Norris gaining nearly twenty-percent of the total votes.
I became politically active when Ireturned from the first Persian Gulf War and went to college so, I understand all too clearly that government and being a congressman is about people who get up in the morning, go to work, or send their kids to school, open the doors of their businesses and do the best they can in a bureaucratic framework with rules made in Washington and it’s tough." After coming home from the Gulf War, Katherine attended the University of South Carolina, Coastal Carolina Campus on a Cross Country and Track scholarship. She graduated from CCU and earned her Masters Degree from USC, Columbia.

“I’ve been in local, state and national politics and I know this is going to be an uphill fight,” Jenerette said.
“But you don’t get into South Carolina politics without expecting every political and personal enemy you ever had to sharpen their knives and come after you big time. Just look at the treatment Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin has been put through during and after this year’s Presidential election. This is nothing new if you go against the status quo. I’m just starting this fight early and I expect it to be a tough campaign.”

Katherine interviewed by DaTechGuyBlog

Katherine at CPAC speaking at Iraq Vets for Congress Reception

Katherine for US Congress 2010 South Caroline 1st Congressional District

On The Issues

Katherine Jenerette is an experienced solid leader with conservative values and principles for government. She has clearly demonstrated her dedication to her community through volunteer service to the state and our region in the political arena and to the nation overall as a soldier in the Persian Gulf War. Her commitment to our US Constitution and real world experiences stand her apart from most public servants.

Katherine is not your typical politician. Katherine Jenerette steps up and she gets things done. Jenerette’s legislative agenda includes the issues of the Economy, National Security, Health Care, Education, District Roads such as I-73 and Infrastructure including a Regional SC/NC Bi-State Airport, Budget Control, Illegal Immigration, Tax reform, the War on Terror, a comprehensive ENERGY policy of Domestic Oil, Solar, Wind, Nuclear and Clean Coal utilization, Compulsory Military Service and revisiting the bureaucratic ‘No Child Left Behind’ education bill among other issues.

On Regional & Coastal issues and Constituent Services
Take Care of All the People of the District: ”While I know the difficulties of making change happen in Washington as a Congressman I know that my realistic impact can be through direct service to the people and the businesses in our district. By opening at least three more local offices; in Georgetown, in Conway and in Charleston, I can provide access to working people, retirees, businessmen and women, educators and a host of others that have worked hard, paid their taxes and count on their government to do those things that they cannot do alone. This includes social security and disability assistance, veterans’ administration assistance, roads and infrastructure, beach re-nourishment, economic development, natural resource conservation, etc. No Congressman can work miracles in Washington, but as a Representative I can be more active in the district and I will be here to help all of the people of our district.”

On the Economy:
“The economy is in serious trouble. My plan calls for immediate actions to be taken by the Congress and includes an indexed moratorium on the Federal Gasoline tax and permanent income tax cuts. The best way to help our consumer driven economy is to help people keep their own hard earned money. Our economic system is fueled by the people’s confidence to spend, and they can’t spend if the Congress keeps taxing them to death. The reality of a Democrat-controlled Congress cannot be ignored and their agenda cannot be challenged by status quo Republicans. As long as we were in the majority, it was easy to “Rubber-stamp” legislation - good or bad. But now, we need a Congressman who has insight, energy and the willpower to go on the offensive to introduce and push conservative legislation that is in the best interest of the people and businesses of our district. Direct challenge must be made to politicians who ‘play politics as usual’ with the best interest of the American people. The best way to control the federal budget and out-of-control spending is to not give any more money to politicians than necessary; most politicians never met a dollar they didn’t like.”

On the American Family:
“Traditional families and faith are at the core and the foundation of our nation. Many of the issues from social security, health care, education options, pro-life and marriage issues are of critical importance to the future of this nation. We cannot ignore the fact that with the Baby Boom Generation moving into retirement many of us face the prospect of being ‘sandwiched’ between our teenagers and the needs of our parents. Whether we are talking about retirees and the cost of prescription drugs or sensible, non-bureaucratic approaches to education for our children, these monumental challenges for our government and society cannot be ignored for long. As a mother of four children that attend public schools, as a college instructor and as a business woman I have come face-to-face with these real world issues and intend to introduce aggressive legislation to begin the difficult task of insuring that no American will be pushed to the sidelines because of Congressional ineptness.”

On Illegal Immigration - A Front Door Only Policy:
“A Border is a Border is a Border. The rule is this: If you come into the United States you come in through the front door not the back door. All that is left is to enact legislation that recognizes that fact of national security and sovereignty. We need to build the fence, control who crosses our borders and monitor non-citizens visa statuses in a responsible and realistic way. There is no doubt that the need for labor and a guest worker program is necessary - but we need a FRONT DOOR IMMIGRATION POLICY. My legislative agenda includes provisions for employers of ‘undocumented’ workers to assist their return to their country of origin and expeditiously, with full coordination and cooperation with those countries, be allowed to re-enter the US through the front door and return to their jobs. They return in a documented status and are allowed to take their place in line like everyone else with when it applies to citizenship requirements. Work visas like student visas like tourist visas are not an automatic ticket to citizenship. Immigrants line up like everyone else at the FRONT DOOR.
